EARTH-FIRST VISION

Hoxton Farms is a London-based biotech on a mission to build a deliciously fatty future with cruelty-free, sustainable fats. By combining sustainable fats with plant proteins, Hoxton Farms is redefining delicious meat alternatives, making them taste as good as the real thing, without harming the planet. The global plant-based meat substitutes market was valued at $10.15 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow to $16.78 billion by 2028. Hoxton Farms is leveraging this growing demand by providing high-quality, customizable cultivated fats as a B2B ingredient for companies seeking better alternative fats.

THE PROBLEM

Although meat alternatives are on the rise, from lab-grown chicken to 3D-printed salmon, one crucial ingredient is still missing: fat. Research shows that poor taste is the top reason people don’t come back for meatless options.

Why? Because fat makes the difference. But plant oils just can’t replicate the mouthfeel, aroma, and flavor of real fat. People crave juicy pork belly, sizzling steak, and crispy bacon. The key to unlocking that mouthwatering experience? Cultivated fat could crack the code for meat-free producers to win over consumers by recreating the creaminess and viscosity of real animal fat—without the animal.

SOLUTIONS

By merging mathematical modeling with biotechnology, Hoxton Farms has built a scalable, affordable fat production platform that replicates the flavor, texture, and aroma of real meat. These precision-engineered fats deliver the authentic culinary experience consumers crave without relying on unsustainable plant oils or industrial animal farming.

THEIR DNAs

Hoxton Farms was c0-founded by biologist Max Jamilly and mathematician Ed Steele, who saw an opportunity to revolutionize the cultivated meat industry by focusing exclusively on cultivated fats. Max Jamilly (CEO) has over a decade of experience in life sciences with a PhD in Synthetic Biology from University of Oxford. He previously worked in biotech VC and consulted for deep tech, consumer healthcare, and future food startups globally. Ed Steele (COO) holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. He began his career as a machine learning engineer at Thought Machine, later joining QED Analytics, a mathematical modeling company. He also worked as a tutor at the University of Oxford before co-founding Hoxton Farms.
